BOY GEORGE: A MUSIC AND FASHION ICON.

George Alan O'Dowd, alias Boy George is one of those personalities who signed the 80s

In fact, through to the outrageous looks he proposed, he was able to express himself in a way that very few people did before (David Bowie is one of his predecessor), and thanks to that Boy George became a star back then and is still considered both a music and fashion icon

The very beginning of his career sees him among the Blitz Kids, a group of young Londoners who hung out at the Blitz Club, in London.

They were considered the most popular guys around London's club scene especially because of their way of dressing up for the public.
Among them,
Steve Strange (the Visage),
Rusty Egan (the Rich Kids) and
fashion icon Isabella Blow (just to mention a few names) used to meet up at the club at the beginning of the 80s, giving birth to the New Romantic scene.
By wearing extreme make-ups (most of the times whitened faces), big hair and wigs, hats and big shoulders they were able to make their image recognizable and create a new trend: the New Romantics.

COMME DES GARÇONS. PARIS FW 2012

It does not sound as something new that COMME DES GARÇONS Collection
generates astonishment,
as the creative director of the brand Rei Kawakubo
manages to shock the public runway after runway.
However, for the FW Collection presented at the Paris Fashion Week on the 3rd of March,
Kawakubo has given a new shape to her women.
and this is all about "tri-dimensionality".

Every coat, dress and trouser shows its best in the three dimensions,
giving models a structured shape and gentle appeal at the same time.
The most representative side of the show was the combination of colours of the coats,
such as the yellow and orange one
and the mix of different patterns - camo, leopard, florals and polka dots.
As if it was a fancy dressing party
(not only for the choice of using red, yellow and shocking pink wigs);
it seems in fact that Kawakubo's women this season want
to be in the middle of the stage and surprise people around them.

MARNI AT H&M. MARCH, 8 2012.

TODAY WAS THE DAY!
After several months waiting for the launch of the capsule collection for H&M
created by Consuelo Castiglioni,
today, the 8th of March all the supporters and lovers of MARNI had a very quick chance to grab the best pieces of the collection, before it was sold out.
I must admit I was among those people.
But I was not one of those that got up at an ungodly hour to be first in front of the windows of H&M,
perhaps because I was sure the men corner would not be overcrowded.
and that' s what happened in fact.
Despite the long cue outside the store in Corso Vittorio Emanuele in the centre of Milan
I easily got to the men corner and managed to buy the fab shirt I was waiting for!

men shirt. 39.95 euros.

GIVENCHY. BLACK IS THE KEYWORD.

Daniele Braga
Black is the new black.
This is not a typing mistake, but it's clear that for next Winter Season
black will be the dominant colour
For Givenchy in particular.
What Riccardo Tisci (creative director of the brand) has presented at the Parisian Runway Show this week is an entire collection based on very dark colours.
Tisci said that the feminine side of the collection was inspired by the seventies photography of
Guy Bourdin, and the result is clear.
Red takes an important rule in little details and accessories such as belts and gloves especially,
which seem to be a must have for next Winter.
Olive green, orange, sky blue and purple

Magdalene Langrova
Nastya Kusakina
Alyona Subbotina
Vasilisa Paviova
Joan Smalls

To me this is one of the best shows seen in Paris,
I appreciate the mix of shades of colours
and the ab-use of leather in almost every single outfit.
Riccardo Tisci is definitely doing a great job!

PARIS FASHION WEEK: KENZO.

This season KENZO turned out to be the hottest and most powerful show on the Parisian calendar.

Karlie Kloss

Thanks to the creativity of Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the brand has been able to renew itself in a way that we hadn't seen for years.
A big stress in tailoring is seen in coats and high-waisted skirts.
Amazing mix of wool and leather for boots and shoes.
A lot of knitwear, perfectly combined with silk and leather.
The coats are perfectly matched with the other garments, thanks to the different shades of olive green, orange, yellow and blue and red.
