NY FASHION WEEK: RALPH LAUREN

It really seems like American designer Ralph Lauren wants to go back to basics.
For the Fall Winter collection 2012 he has presented today in New York there's no doubt he wanted to take inspiration from the past, and especially from the first women collection he created in 1971.
That is why we see very tailored and masculine shapes of the shirts and high-wasted trousers, with reference to the sport the designer has always loved: Polo.
For what concearns the colours, there's a lot of brown and grey but the very protagonist of the show was black. black mixed with gold, red and magenta.

YELLOW seems a must. together with pastel colours, orange and dark red. 
and then sheer, sheer, and sheer again.

GARETH PUGH

Described as visionary, futurist and sometimes over-the-limit, the English designer Gareth Pugh has shown, through his collections, how hard is working and how he's grown in the last few years. 

Starting his carreer as as a costume designer for the English National Youth theatre at the very early age of 14 years old,  finished his degree in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins in 2003. His talent has shown at once, when his final collection at St. Martins attracted the attention of the fashion editor of Dazed and Confused who placed one of his designs on the magazine's cover. Thanks to that Pugh reached immediate popolarity and was selected to participate in British reality show The Fashion House two months after his graduation. 

Pugh's first solo premiere was in Fall's London 2006 fashion week and since then he has started working as designer at large. 

He had the opportunity to dress Kylie Minogue in her Showgirl - The Greatest Hits Tour, followed by Showgirl - The Homecoming Tour.

But Kylie is not the only star wearing Pugh's outfits: Beyoncé wore Pugh at the MTV Europe Awards in 2008, and for her Diva video. Singer Lady Gaga recently wore a jacket designed by Pugh at the Wango Tango concert 2009 and many other pieces.

ENCHANTED. but in a good way.

At Luis Vuitton last runway show presenting the Spring Summer Collection 2012 in Paris, Marc Jacobs, the designer, has set his models to a fairytale world on stage.

With a marry-go-round on the back of the runway, even the choice of the patterns on fabrics has been ruled by a chaldish touch of hand of the designer.

ELIE SAAB @ PARIS FASHION WEEK 2011

Showing his collection at the very end of Paris Fashion Week 2011, Elie Saab has received many good critics and has moreover been considered among the most influent of the entire Fashion Week.

The Libanese designer that as been nomed as the most profitable haute couture designer, has launched, together with his team of co-designers, a glamorous 1970s collection for next Summer, inspired by the American TV series Charlie's Angels.

Long, feminine and flattering dresses, plain and pastel colours, everything mixed with 1970s shapes but with hints of contemporaneity, achieved through the use of lace, precious stones, sparkling fabrics and spangles.

Colours: cream, yellow, orange, green and electric blue.

Materials: voil, jersey and silk.

Details: lace and spangles.

KAZAKI.

Although the majority of people gets annoyed or even scared by such a outragiuous band,  they don't actually give a damn of what criticisms say about them. 

Kazaky and their videos are, despite critics, among the most view of the last few years on You Tube.

 

Kazaky is an Ukrainian Dance Group that has released not so many songs, however reached a great popularity on Youtube. A few datas: the video of their single "In the Middle" has garnered over 4 million views, and their video "Love" even 5 million. 

But the aspect that makes them so fuckin' famous worldwide, besides their stunning abilities in singing and dancing, is the fact that they are able to dance wearing heels; and not the ones ordinary men shoes got, instead very high-heeled women shoes. 

The way they perform on stage is unbelievable, since they seem to move elegantly and consciusly as if they were butteflies; and if we consider the 10cm-heels they usually wear, we must pay more respect.  

The incredible shows they put on stage have been noticed by many designers and even taken as part of their own fashion shows, where we can see Kazaky singing and dancing. 

It had already happened during ANOUKI BICHOLLA Woman Fall/Winter 2011/12 fashion show, where the group performed at the beginning of the show generating rumours but most of all surprise. 

And less than one year later, Dean and Dan (DSquared²) have decided to make Kazaky perform for the launch of the Spring/Summer 2012 Men Collection in Milan. 

It's useless to say that it was a success. 

DSQUARED²: WE LOVE MUD!

DeanDanSbury, in other words an invented world created by Dean and Dan Dsquared² for the launch of their Woman Summer Collection 2012.

It was the first fashion show of a sunny Monday in Milan(the 26th of Sept.), and has surely managed to open the 6th day of the FashionWeek generating surprise and excitement of the invited.
On an unidilliac catwalk made of mud puddles and water, the two Canadian designers have created a rocker chic and boho-hippy atmosphere(as they themselves named it), where bright and colourful rainboots(with heels, sure!) were unquestionably the main protagonists. The challenge was very tough, since fringes has appeared as if by magic in almost every garment: from waistcoats to jackets, trousers and MONITOBA, the new it-bag Dsquared².

The fabrics chosen were flattering and very feminine, although leather was chosen for most of the jackets. A very large use of deep and intense colours.
However, we have also seen some prints, and in particular the American Flag. With a hint of reference to their collegues Dolce&Gabbana that for the winter collection used stars as their main theme, Dean and Dan have inserted the blue red and white of the American flag in almost every look; in scarfs especially.

Of relevant importance is also the abundant use of precious stones, that enriched dresses and shorts, tops and bracelets.

Orange, yellow, purple, torquoise blue and grass green the main colours of the season for Dsquared, always sparkling and joyful.
But not only the ones normally associated with the Spring or Summer;in facts also the brown of mud has been used, that appeared on jeans covering models' legs from the knees up to the ankles.

The loud music of Lady Gaga and U2, together with male and female models shouting have exaggerated (as of this word could ever be used in fashion, ndr.) the funky-muddy-rock scene. With great results.
